Another popular family friendly attraction in Hilo is Coconut Island, found in Hilo Bay on the Big Island, Hawaii. From the parking lot guests walk over a pedestrian bridge to a circular 4-acre island paradise.
There are sheltered areas, grills, plenty grass for volleyball games, plumbed bathrooms and the whole ocean to swim in!
Children and adults can climb and jump off a purpose-built tower and plunge into the ocean. The lower jump is 8 feet high; there is an upper 15-foot jump for those a bit braver.
